How late do you have to be on your mortgage payments before a bank will start foreclosure procedings?

My sister, a nurse, work is due to a broken leg and her husband (aperiodic) UCES stopped his work just two days after she managed to damage and Hasn 't found a new in the past 5 weeks. She doesn 't have sick leave or temporary disability insurance. She missed this month 's payment of mortgage She will be working off probably another 4-6 weeks if his leg heals well. So that means missing at least a second and perhaps a third payment. But his doctor is concerned with the type of fracture that can rebreak that she was after she get off the mold and try to even walk on it with a charger. Then he would have to do surgery with plates and bolts. She could be working for up to 3 months if the case, which would put its almost 6 missing payments. I don 't want to lose her home, but I don' t want to give any money until she is at risk because I really don 't want your husband to benefit from it.

    The morgage company and see if they have payment forgivnes plan or if they offer any assistance in certain situations.
