Since the real estate market has been hit hard,it would be wise to shop around to get the best deal on a mortgage. The advantage of going with a bank is that they often have more mortgage programs available that you could benefit from. That being said, it wouldn't be rare for a credit union to have a slightly lower rate and if they have a mortgage product that fits your needs, then you may be better off there.
